![]() The whole time, was carrying a few (~12) normal slaves from a neighboring anarchy system to turn in as I got the missions for them (be sure you're checking the faction giving the mission is an empire faction - independent factions offer missions even at empire-friendly stations). Started at neutral/no rank with empire, traded between two stations owned by empire-allegiance factions for a few hours to get friendly with them. Thanks for this post! Was the push that finally made me go upgrade from my T7.ĭid the rep grind all on stream last night in ~6 hours. Here's the current loadout for 17.16 ly rangeĮdit: Updated using corrected 240 cargo slots. It'll make it faster to get to the next level, it handles like a dream for its size and has loads of style. ![]() Hopefully this post helps people on the fence for the Clipper - I don't see any reason not to get it if you can. I had to run a less profitable route for a while to be able to afford the full 236 cargo worth of items and the ~1.5M insurance. As a note, with a B5 FSD, the laden jump range is only 13.97 LY. If you don't need this, you need 3.5m less or so. I'd say you should have about 32M - this gives you the ability to get an A5 FSD. I got mine with around 30 million in assets. :)įinally, the last question I didn't find an answer to - how much credits do I need for an initial outfit. The hard points are really far out to the side though so they aren't optimal. As for combat - I can't say, my ship doesn't have extra space in which I can place weapons. ![]() Also you can't ignore the style factor - it's pretty awesome. As for the rep grind, I got mine while I was Knight / Neutral with the Empire (not Baron as some say is required - maybe it depends on where you buy it?). It's significantly more agile and actually I have much less accidental dings while entering and leaving stations. The extra income with the Clipper comes out to about 691k/hr so you'll break even on the investment after about 3h10m hrs of trading.Īlso the most important factor to me is that Clipper is a lot more fun to fly. If you plan to get rid of it later for a larger ship, you lose 2.2 million of this (a bit less probably since you sell off the modules it comes with). The cost of the Imperial Clipper is 22 million. This gives me about 3.16M per hour or 13173 crt/hr. With my Imperial Clipper, I can make the same run in 11.5 minutes - a significant decrease in time (despite the D5 thrusters - shorter jumps with better thrusters might see more of a gain here). This means I made about 2.47M / hour or 11653 crt/hr. With my Type 7, with 212 cargo space, I could make this hop in 13 minutes. This is mostly against dings and really won't do much in combat. I did downgrade to a type 3 shield, but went with A3. I did things like going to D1 sensors and D5 thrusters. Type 7 can, barely, and it seems I can get very similar range with the Clipper. I was worried that a Clipper couldn't do this. They require 17.0 and 17.16 jump distances respectively. Some background - I have two trade routes currently that are 2-hop, with approximately 2500 crt. I found both cons and pros but no hard data, so I set out to get some. This includes things like station names, funny dialog, etc.Īs I chug along in my Type 7, I tried finding information as to whether an Imperial Clipper is a worthy upgrade on the ship scale.
